Creating Flash Card Course

Levelup allows us to create diverse types of courses, depending on the needs of your learners and the desired learning outcomes. Here we are going to learn how to create a Flashcard course on Levelup.

What is a Flashcard Course on Levelup?

Flashcards help students to engage in active recall or a process wherein students actively engage in learning by stimulating their memories and creating lasting connections to the material. Learners often experience the “forgetting curve,” where knowledge gradually diminishes over time without proper reinforcement. Flashcards provide a solution by offering a tool for learners to review and practice essential information at strategic intervals, ensuring that knowledge is reinforced and retained in their long-term memory.

The Steps to Create a Flashcard Course

  • Click on the ‘Admin’ section on the home page

Check out the guide on the admin section to know more about all the elements that you can control from this section.

  • Click on ‘Create New’ Button near the top right corner of the screen
  • Select the option for ‘Flashcard course’ from the dropdown menu.
  •  You will be redirected to the ‘Create Flashcard course’ page. On this page, you will need to enter the following:

              1. Enter the ‘Title’ for the course.

              2. Give a Short Description of the course. Try to include things that quickly explain what is included in the course or what you intend the learner to

              3. Give a detailed ‘Long Description’ of the course. Write about all the important things that the learner might want to know about the course.

              4. Select the Department for the course. A department can be defined as a group of people belonging to a particular team, hierarchy or having a
                  common learning goal.

              5. Give a Version Number to the course. Versioning allows you to create different courses with the same title.

              6. You can also add Tags to the course. Use commonly searched keywords by your learners to make the course easily discoverable.

              7. Toggle options to indicate whether you want learners to get a Certificate upon completion of the course.

              8. Toggle options to mark your preference whether you want the learners to Enroll for the course or not.

              9. Upload a Banner Image. Please note that the size of the image should not exceed 600 KB. You can edit the image to suit your preference.

              10. Upload a Thumbnail Image. Here too, the maximum size is 600 KB, and you can edit the image.

  • Once you are done, click on ‘Save as Draft’.

  • Once you do that, the ‘Topics’ section becomes activated.

  • Click on Add New on the Topics Section. You will find it on the right side of the screen.
  • You will be taken to a new page, titled ‘Create Topics’
  • Give a Title for the Set of Flashcards.
  • Click on Save
  • Click on Add New in the flashcard section.
  • Enter the following details in the Create Flashcard section.

               1. Choose the flashcard type from the dropdown. A text flashcard allows your learners to enter their answers, while MCQs allow them to choose the
right answer from a list of options.

               2. Type in your question.

               3. Type in the correct answer. If you have chosen MCQs, then you can enter up to 6 options. Please note that 2 options must be entered for an
                   MCQ flashcard.

               4. Enter the correct answer if you have chosen MCQs.

               5. Enter the duration in minutes. This is the time for which the flashcard will be visible.

               6. Upload a flashcard image. The size of the JPEG or PNG file should be less than 600 KB.

               7. You can also add a tip. This is a hint for the learner to help them answer the question.

               8. Click on Save on the Create Flashcard section.

  • The flashcard becomes visible under the Flashcard section of ‘Create Topics.’ You can edit the course if required.
