Uploading SCORM Course | Levelup LMS

Uploading SCORM Course

One of the core features of Levelup is its compatibility. Courses created with Levelup can be used on other Learning Management Systems (LMS). Similarly, you can also use courses from other LMS platforms in your Levelup learning environment as well, by uploading a SCORM course.

SCORM stands for “Sharable Content Object Reference Model.” SCORM defines a way of creating units of online training material which can be used across systems. SCORM courses created on one platform can be used seamlessly on another platform.

Check out the guide on the admin section to know more about all the elements that you can control from this section.

  • Click on ‘Create New’ Button near the top right corner of the screen.
  • Select the option for ‘SCORM course’ from the dropdown menu.
  • You would be taken to the ‘Create SCORM Course’ page.
  • On this page, you will need to enter the following:

              1. Enter the ‘Title’ for the course.

              2. Give a Short Description of the course.

              3. Give a detailed ‘Long Description’ of the course.

              4. Select the Department for the course. A department can be defined as a group of people belonging to a particular team, hierarchy or having a
                  common learning goal. Click
here to know how you can create a department.

              5. Give a Version Number to the course. Different versions of the same courses allow you to track them differently.

              6. You can also add Tags to the course. It is advised to use commonly searched keywords to enhance the accessibility of the website.

              7. Toggle options to indicate whether you want learners to get a Certificate upon completion of the course.

              8. Toggle options to mark your preference whether you want the learners to Enroll for the course or not.

              9. Upload a Banner Image. Make sure that the size of the image is less than 600 KB. You can edit the image to suit your preference.

             10. Upload a Thumbnail Image. Here the size of the image should be less than 600 KB as well, and you can edit the image as well.

  • Once you have entered all the information, click on ‘Save as Draft’

  • Click on ‘Import Package.’
  • This will open the ‘Import SCORM Package’ dialog box. Here, you will need to the following:

              2. Enter the duration of the course in minutes

              3. Upload the SCORM Zip File, under the attachments section

SCORM content cannot get completed due to two possible reasons:

  • The completion rules are not properly set during production, i.e. the completion rules have to be set within the tool used to create the SCORM file. To ensure that your SCORM content works properly, you can always test it in SCORM Cloud.
  • SCORM content that is embedded in iFrames doesn’t auto-refresh when completed. Your SCORM content might be designed to be executed inside a pop-up window and send the data after the window closes. When embedded, the SCORM content doesn’t send any data before being unloaded, and there’s no way around this restriction. Please verify whether or not it is the case with your authoring tool’s support service.
